Message from Athletic Director Mary Ann Paz

The 2009 Fall Season of sports at Delta College proved to be another very successful one.

Our Football team qualified and participated in the Silicon Valley Bowl game at Foothill College.  Our women’s Volleyball team competed and won 2 rounds of Northern California playoff competition qualifying them for the Elite 8 State Championship tournament which they hosted.  Our men’s Cross Country team competed in the Big 8 Conference meet where Ray Garcia posted a personal best time which proved to be one of the fastest times posted by a Delta runner in a decade, beating the previous mark by 24 seconds.  At the Viking Cross Country invitational all Delta runners had personal best times.  In only it’s 2nd season of competition our Women’s  Golf team finished a very respectable 4th place in the Big 8 Conference.  In Men’s Waterpolo the Mustangs closed out their home season with a 5-1 record.  Delta’s Wrestling program completed one of it’s most successful seasons in recent memory, qualifying four wrestlers for the State Tournament.  Two of the four:  Carlos Soto who placed 2nd in the State meet and Jasmeet Basra  who placed 4th in the State meet were also named All Americans. 

Delta’s men’s and women’s basketball teams are closing out their conference play and will soon be involved in post season competition.  Our Spring sports are underway and we are looking forward a very successful season of Spring 2010 sports.  We hope you will support our teams.
